Reflecting my Blog

4.Early in the year, I learned the importance of: doing a well thought out story board and script it really helps me get my thoughts organized and it makes it easier when to know what we want when filming.I learned it is also important to do overlays and titles, making the titles roll on the end credits is a lot easier than putting titles side by side on the timeline. i also learned it is important to use copyright friendly images. i neer thought about copyright until this class and in my first project we had to find new picutres to use because the original ones were copyrighted. You can see that in my first film, I did not make the credits roll, and I realize it is a lot easier and faster to make them roll also we spent a lot of time finding pictures, but did not check the copyright on all of them. On my second project, I learned a green screen worked and how to make the backgrounds different. A scene that shows this well is called "Traditions" when Michael and I switch our backgrounds back and forth while talking. I also learned how to use effects through a workshop with messing around with the interviews. Later in the year, I learned how to use effects to make the pictures different, before we had used the effects only on film, not on pictures. I had really learned this concept because after the "Jabberwocky" video, i used a lot of effects on "The Water is Wide" video. One good example is from "The Water is Wide" when the butterfly pictures "flys" around the screen, I am really glad I learned these effects because it made this class more fun.
5. This class made me understand commercials. Before, I never realized that in all commercials the rule of thirds was used. Now that we did an exercise I always notice the rule of thirds in movies, commericals, and tv shows. I cannot demonstrate this rule because the video of me and sam with the over the shoulder workshop does not use the rule of thirds. I also learned that music can make a huge difference in the mood and tone of a video. I did not use a lot of music in my videos, but by watching other groups videos, the music they chose helped create the mood and tone.
6. This class made me actually enjoy group work. Before I hated working with groups, but now that I got to meet all these people in my class I prefer to work with people instead of working alone.

The Water is Wide reflection

1. The story we were trying evoke was what Mr.Z told us when we first started playing this song. We were able to achieve this by using water images and making them move. We added some of own ideas to the story by adding animals like ducks, swans, and butterflies. With these pictures we were able to make our theme more nature like.
2. 1:40-2:09 is what we are most crowded. It is the beginning of our pictures and it starts really calm. We were trying to show a calm nature scene. Our images were very short but moved slowly which helped evoke the calm mood. We left all the colors the same, but we just added effects to them.
3. 75% of our film is abstract. Yes we did have a consistent idea about water, so throughout the video we made the water move.
4. I learned that abstract images are just an opinion, but they are fun to make.
5. I realized it is fun to interpret music the way you want. It's nice to be able to choose pictures of what you want and put effects on the pictures to make them different.
6. My patners helped a lot with the transtions and chosing some effects 7. I chose a lot of the pictures we used, I helped with the story board, and I helped find the cites for the pictures because we lost our bibliography, so we had to refind all of our picutres .
